As conference play is reaching the home stretch before conference tournaments begin, play is beginning to heat up as we get a great rematch in the A10. Richmond (17-9, 8-5) heads to Stuart C. Siegel Center to take on VCU (17-7, 10-3).

Now that we are nearing the end of the season, we are really figuring out what teams really are and believing what they show us. For the most part, these teams are pretty evenly matched which is why we got such a close game the first time these two teams met this season and was only a 2 point game. That game however, Richmond shot an awful 18% from 3 while the Rams shot 40% from behind the arc. The Spiders shot well below their average 34.3% from that category while the Rams shot above their usual 35.1% which is nearly almost identical shooting from the two teams. Another category that will play a difference in this game compared to last is the rebounding as VCU's second leading rebounder at 5.2 rebounds per game, Hason Ward, may miss the game. Even if he does go, don't expect a 100% effort as ankle sprains take some time to get back to full health. Richmond is an experienced team which I expect to be ready to go this game as they look for revenge against a possibly depleted VCU team. The Spiders team is full of experience with Seniors and Juniors who have all played with each other last year and mesh well together. Richmond outrebounds VCU 30.8 compared to 29.2 and will also be altered by the potential absence of Ward. Watch for VCU to struggle from behind the arc this game as Richmond will look to get an early spark in this game and try to jump out to an early lead and maintain that throughout the game. Also, look for free throw shooting to come in to play near the end as the Spiders convert 71.6% from the line against VCU's not so impressive 67.3%.
Currently, the odds have opened up at VCU -2.5 (-110) O/U 131.5. We are looking to jump on this line early before it moves too much and are able to get the better team with points here. I expect this line to jump to Richmond -1 if Ward is announced out, but only get to about +1.5 if he does play. Either way, the better line is right now overnight.
Richmond +2.5 (-110) - 1 unit
