We look into the Southland Conference as they begin to wrap up the season with only two games left before heading to Katy, Texas to begin their conference tournament. Before that happens, these two teams are looking to work out any kinks as Nicholls (19-10, 9-3) heads down to American Bank Center to take on Texas A&M CC (19-10, 6-6).

These two teams will look to mirror their performance from the last time they met as both of them run an extremely fast pace where Nicholls ranks 34th in the nation compared to Texas A&M CC which rank 24th in the nation. Transition, transition, transition is what we will get tonight as both teams have no issue grabbing the rebound and getting the ball up court quick as half court offense is neither of these teams specialty. Nicholls main focus will be to get up and get the 3 ball rolling as they shoot 33.2% from behind the arc in which they struggled last time out against the Islanders by only shooting 19% from 3 that game. Expect a better performance here tonight in that area while Texas A&M CC looks to maintain their average of 32.9% from behind the arc. The Islanders know that to win this game, they will have to continue with the up tempo offense as Nicholls can go on scoring runs in a hurry. This will look like a cat and mouse type of game as the offense is flowing and both teams are looking to keep pace with the other. In their last meeting, Nicholls won in OT 83 - 80 where the Islanders put up an insane 85 shot attempts and the Colonels put up 75. In their last 5 games alone, Nicholls has put up at least 80 points and I expect them to continue that leading into the conference tournament. What Texas A&M CC can do late in games when this thing is close is knock down free throw attempts fairly well as they convert 74.3% compared to Nicholls at 62.2%. Defensively, both teams are rated pretty well as they rank 72nd and 112th in the nation, however, that is mainly based off of the type of competition they face which is the not so impressive Southland Conference. 3 of the last 5 meetings between these two teams have gone over the posted total and pushed once with where the line currently sits. Like mentioned in previous posts, when teams show you who they are, believe them. And we know that these teams love pace which is why we will take that angle tonight.
Nicholls -2.5 (-110) O/U 148. Currently this total has gone up since the opener by about 2 points depending where you have looked. This game feels like it should be closer to the 150's so the line movement will not scare me off taking what is most likely the worst of the number.
Nicholls/Texas A&M CC O148 (-110) - 1 unit
