Conference tournaments are well underway and there have already been some schools that have secured their spot in the big dance beginning March 17th. Today has already had some unpredictable outcomes as Indiana upset Michigan to move on to play Illinois in the Quarterfinals of the BIG Ten tournament. We almost saw Butler pull off the upset against Providence as well while in the BIG 12 bracket, TCU upsets Texas and will advance to take on Kansas in the Semifinals. Also, we are getting nail biting action as Miami wins in OT on a buzzer beater layup against a surprisingly tough Boston College team. A few of the picks for this evening will have favorites and underdogs which may come out as outright winners.

Mississippi State (-4.5) vs. South Carolina
This will be these two teams third matchup against each other this season in which we saw a 1-1 split in the first two meetings. Offensively, these two teams are pretty well rounded and do not differ too much in any of the main categories as they both shoot the 3 awfully at 29.3% for Mississippi St. and 31.8% for South Carolina. The free throws down at the end of the game may be a concern for South Carolina as they only convert 67.4% which is good for 307th in the nation compared to Mississippi St's 71.9%. Rebounding and defense if just about even as well for both of these schools, but there is one major factor from last game that stands out which was an anomaly which we should see even out during this meeting. The obvious reason will be that Mississippi State shot 0/14 from behind the arc which is honestly tough to do even if you tried. Just a completely off night for that team in 3 point shooting while South Carolina shot right around their average of 29% from the 3 in that game. However, the Bulldogs as of late have been completely inept from behind the arc as they shot 25% last game against Texas A&M, before they put up another pitiful showing against Auburn at home where they went 0/13 from 3. This Mississippi State team is just all sorts of out of sync on the offense and have trouble beating decent teams while they beat the bad teams in the SEC. South Carolina on the other hand has actually been able to get a quality win as they beat LSU last month and won 5 out of their last 7 games. The Gamecocks have a little bit of momentum going into the SEC tournament and will be sure to leave it all out on the court as we expect to see a hard fought close game here.
With where the current odds sit, it is too difficult to lay more than a point with the way this Mississippi State team is playing as they have been inconsistent and shooting below their average free throw percentage as well. Below is the pick for this game as well as a few others that have some value and stick out as well.
