MLB Picks & Analysis 5.3.22

We are beginning to see now that the odds have been adjusted heavily for totals in MLB as the O/U's which usually sat around 8.5-9.5 last year are hovering around 6.5-7.5 now with the adjusted lines. We may have to take another approach as the numbers have adjusted or strictly focus on first 5 innings for the time being.

New York Yankees vs. Toronto Blue Jays | 3 unit play

For this play, there are two things that particularly stick out quite a bit allowing us to capitalize on an even money play for these two pitchers. Alek Manoah has been solid to begin the season striking out at least 5 per game. When we take a look at lefty vs righty splits, we see that Manoah has been phenomenal against righties this season only allowing a .096 batting average against 56 batters. He will be facing a righty heavy lineup where he is going up against 6 righties where those in the lineup that have faced him have gone a measly 2 for 22 against him in their career. Look for a solid start at home again for Manoah who averages a better ERA at home. When we look at Taillon, he has been hit pretty often from this Blue Jays line up as at least 4 batters he has faced have hit at least .250 or better against him. Add that to the fact that he is allowing a .362 batting average against righties in which Toronto is sending out 7 is a recipe for a disaster on the road for Taillon. Not too much to go into this one as we look for the Blue Jays to get out early in the first 5.
