As the West Coast Conference tournament is underway, we get a very nice matchup here with two teams that hope to make some noise and upset a few teams along the way to the inevitable loss to Gonzaga. Loyola Marymount (11-17, 3-2) plays a back to back in Orleans Arena as they welcome in BYU (21-9, 9-6) for this first tournament game.

Coming off of a very high scoring affair LMU will look to continue its offensive scoring as they will need it against a very well balance BYU offensive team. Both teams surprisingly shoot the ball at a decent percentage as LMU hits 45.6% from the field over BYU's 45.2% from the field. Both are right around the top 100 in the nation in field goal percentage and have put that on display as of late. Both teams can knock down the 3 at a decent rate as well as converting free throw's when the time matters as they both shoot right at about 72.5% from the line. One major advantage BYU has however, is their ability to rebound the ball at an effective 35.9 per game (good for 27th in the nation) which helps them with second chance points as well as pushing the pace when they force turnovers. Another major factor that Loyola Marymount struggles with is their defense as they rank 337th in the nation in defensive rating and has allowed solid teams to capitalize on this. Looking at these two teams head to head record, BYU has put up a total of 78 points per game against this lack luster defense. And looking at what the Cougars have done as of late, they have no issue scoring when facing defenses of the same pedigree like Pepperdine and Pacific. LMU's game plan this game will be to push the pace and keep up with BYU's scoring if they want a chance at moving on in this tournament. This game points to offense, offense, offense, which will take us to our pick tonight.

Currently the odds sit at BYU -11.5 (-110) O/U 142. This total has come down by 2 points from the opener which is most likely due to expected tired legs from LMU after that 86 point performance. Because of that, we will target BYU's offense and look to get their team total at a nice price.
