Georgia vs. Alabama 1/10/22 (NCAAF)

Updated: Jan 12

It is finally here, the College Football Playoff, and we are getting 2 power house SEC schools that have been growing their program specifically for this stage for a couple of years now. These teams recently met on December 4th and Alabama had a field day on offense against this Georgia defense. Nick Saban was able to do what he wanted offensively against this Georgia team along with causing turnovers. After listening to the post game press conference, Kirby Smart took notes of the areas that they struggled this game as well as stating how big plays given up was part of the issue.

"We can't turn the ball over and give up 60 and 70 yard passes and expect to be successful."

is what Kirby Smart stated. Which is true. I fully expect Georgia to come out with a different game plan for the championship game and focus on not getting beat while also containing Bryce Young in the pocket and not letting him get loose. If Kirby Smart is able to implement these changes, then look for Georgia to bounce back against that performance they had about a month ago. Both squads are solid offensively, but like previously stated, I believe Georgia will control the game by leaning on the run game which will open up some plays downfield later on. As the old saying goes "defense wins championships", we will expect Georgia to tighten up on that end.

Along with controlling the game, Georgia ranks 15th in the nation in total yards allowed which also supports the idea that the focus here is to keep everything in front of them and not allow Bryce Young to get loose.

Currently the odds sit at Georgia -2.5 (-110) O/U 52.5. The public loves Alabama and is currently on them at 61%. I understand Alabama has a reputation of winning and has been here before plenty of times, however, this season this Georgia team has looked like they have stepped up their game.

Georgia -2.5 (-110) - 1 unit
