Fordham @ Dayton 1/25/22 (NCAAB)

An intriguing match up today as we get a couple of A10 teams going head to head which have previously been lopsided affairs. Fordham (9-8) heads to UD Arena to take on Dayton (12-7) which is sure to be a fun battle between the two.

Fordham is a team that has been very mediocre on the offensive side of things, but has stayed somewhat consistent on the defensive end since conference play has begun. Quisenberry and Ohams have been a key part of this offense in contributing to the teams scoring and rebounding output. Ohams missed last game due to a knee injury and is expected to be back today. If we look at what the Rams have done since conference play has started, they have been able to focus on miscues from the previous game. If we look at what Richmond did to this team compared to how Dayton plays, we will see that Richmond is able to shoot the 3 ball extremely well, limit turnovers, move the ball around as they assist at a high rate, and shoot from the free throw line more effectively. Fordham made a major change from playing Richmond to Davidson as they cleaned up offensively and limited turnovers. I expect the Rams to continue to make adjustments and focus on cleaning up the areas where they struggle. This Dayton team runs an extremely slow pace, does not rebound well, and also struggles with turnovers themselves as they are ranked 243rd in the nation in that category. Fordham is looking to get back in the win column as they have lost 3 straight so will be desperate for a good performance while Dayton will focus on their defense to land them the win. Look for Dayton to control the pace of this game and limit possessions for both teams, but expect Fordham to push the ball in transition when given the opportunity.

Fordham has snapped their losing streak against they Flyers as they defeated them last year after losing the past 15 in a row. The difference this year is what this Fordham team has done in the offseason and through the transfer portal as they have added much needed scoring and rebounding to round out their roster. Dayton has lost some experience from last year and relies on a pretty young team.

Currently the odds sit at Dayton -13.5 (-110) O/U 130. With the expectation of Ohams playing, this line should be closer to the 10 range. I fully expect Fordham to give Dayton some competition here today as they are in desperate mode if they want any chance at competing in this conference. Look for the coach to have them sharp and ready here today.
