Canisius @ Saint Peter's 1/18/21 (NCAAB)

Heading to the Metro Atlantic for an early afternoon start we get Canisius (5-11) taking on Saint Peter's (5-6) at the Yanitelli Center in New Jersey. Not as exciting of a matchup as we would like for a Tuesday mid day game, but we do get a slight edge in this game if we attack early.

Two teams collide that have both been inconsistent all season. However, one thing we can count on is conference play where we get teams that are familiar with each other. Neither team is impressive in any certain category and this is one of those games where anybody can win. Looking at each teams strength of schedule, they both match up pretty evenly as they each have played some tough competition to start the season, then transitioned into some easier opponents. The small difference in this game is the free throw shooting and turnovers. The Golden Griffins shooting 71.8% from the line is nothing to write home about, but it is better than what the Peacocks shoot, which is 65.2% in that area. Defensively, Saint Peter's averages more steals per game, however, Canisius is ranked 69th in the nation in turnovers which means they take of the ball rather well.

The last few times these teams have gone head to head, there hasn't been much turnover in their rosters, and Canisius has won 4 of the last 5 and covering as a +2, +2.5, +4.5, and +3.5 underdog while winning as a -1 favorite. For teams like this which know each other's style of play and tend to play games rather tight, we are going to take advantage of this opening line early before it moves. Ahamadou Fofana adds some scoring that Canisius has lacked in the past year, and paired with the experience of this team, Canisius looks like an intriguing play.

The opening line has this game as St Peter's -8.5 (-103) O/U 131.5. Again, as conference play has tightened up, this line is just a bit too far off for where it should be. Some trends remain trends although some may think that regression is due. One thing to learn in sports betting is that, it may be true for how teams perform, but not necessarily true for how teams are ATS.

Canisius +8.5 (-113) - 1 unit
