A beautiful late game here as we get two BIG 12 teams who are sure to make some noise this year in March. Looking for their 3rd straight win is Kansas (19-3) heading to Austin to take on Texas (17-6) which is sure to be a fun and loud matchup.
This is a classic battle of the titans as two top schools in a power 5 conference are going to look to create a great defensive matchup here in what should be a gritty game. Kansas has looked solid and well rounded in conference play minus last weekends BIG 12/SEC challenge in which they lost to Kentucky. Texas on the other hand has been very tough at home as they are 14-1 on the season defending their home court against some great competition as well as some bottom feeder teams early on in the season. One thing that Kansas will do well tonight is take care of Texas in the paint as they outrebound Texas 35.3 to 31.3 rebounds per game as well offensively at 10.6 compared to 8.7. To go along with their big men, they have been able to move the ball extremely well averaging 16.4 assists per game creating shot opportunities for their role players and allowing their star guard Agbaji to get his shots. Both teams defend well as Kansas ranks 84th in the nation while Texas led by the infamous Chris Beard is currently ranked 4th in the nation. The thing Texas can do is cause fits and turnovers, however, that does not always turn into transition scoring as they like to slow the pace and rank 345th in the nation in this category. They will look to set up an offense but will struggle with Kansas length if they allow them to get back and set up on defense. This does not look to be a let down spot or a revenge spot necessarily for either school so we are going with the overall more well rounded and experienced team for this pick today.
Currently the line sits at Kansas -1 (-105) O/U 134.5. Texas is now in the heart of their BIG 12 schedule and unfortunately for them I do not see this as a great opportunity to take advantage. Both teams coming in healthy and the Jayhawks are slightly more skilled than the Longhorns.
Kansas -1 (-105) - 1 unit
